We are a crack drill unit of the Academy. The team is composed of the best drilled cadets in the corps of cadets. Members of this platoon are selected on a competitive basis; however preference is given to those cadets who have been members on former occasions. Adherence to the Fusileer rules is a requirement to be on the team.
The platoon performs intricate drill manuevers while executing precision movements with the drill rifle. These movements are performed without verbal commands, requiring the cadets to memorize the sequence of movements.
Membership in the platoon is a much coveted honor. The platoon was the official Missouri unit in the inaugural parades for Presidents Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon and Jimmy Carter in Washington, D.C. Each year the Fusileers make public appearances in neighboring cities, often on network television. We travel to Daytona Beach, Florida for the National High School Drill Team Championships.
